Griffith Fire Dept - Fire Fest

On August 12, 2017 from 5 pm - 11 pm the Griffith Firefighters Association will be hosting their 1st annual Fire Fest in Central Park (698 Broad Street). Music will be provided by Rak Brothers and Jason Jakes. Please stop by for a night of music, door prizes, raffles, food, drinks and games. All proceeds go to support the Griffith Firefighters Association, which helps supplement the GFD with equipment and fire prevention resources such as smoke and CO detectors. The money raised will go right back into protection of our community

Only $2.50 a ticket for the entry fee. That will enter you into the cash raffle with prizes of $1000, $500 or $250.  Firefighters will also be selling tickets.

Children are welcome.

Vehicle Information

Griffith Police are warning residents to take steps to minimize the risk of criminals getting into their parked vehicles.  Police took several reports of subjects getting into parked vehicles and taking loose change and other items over this past weekend.

Residents are encouraged to lock their doors, park in well lit areas if possible, and set their car alarms.  Almost all of the incidents this past weekend were reported to have involved unlocked vehicles.  Many people subscribe to the theory that if the vehicle is left un-locked, the suspect will not have to break the window to get in.  However, it should be noted that no vehicles that were known to have been left locked in the areas of these thefts were found to have been damaged.

The Griffith Police are working on leads and taking active steps to combat this recent rash of thefts. Please be aware of things in your neighborhood and call 911 immediately if you see anything suspicious.

Anyone with information about these thefts is encouraged to call Commander Keith Martin at 219-924-7503 ext 257, or the Griffith Police Anonymous Tip Line at 219-922-3085.
