The Detective Division of the Griffith Police Department consists of a Detective Commander, a Detective Sergeant, and three Detectives.  This division is responsible for the follow-up and investigation of both misdemeanor and felonious crimes occurring in Griffith.

Northwest Indiana Major Crimes Task Force

The NWI Major Crimes Task Force is an active investigative unit comprised of 80 investigators from over 30 local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.  This task force is activated for homicides, non-parental kidnappings, serial cases of rape, arson and sexual assault, police involved shooting/deadly force incidents, and other exceptionally heinous offenses that take place in Lake and Porter County. The Griffith Police Department has two investigators assigned to the unit.
