Business Licenses
Business licensing requirements and fees.
Any person maintaining, operating or conducting any business, commercial, or industrial activity, occupation or activity related thereto or engaging in any other activity or occupation, whether or not for profit, within the town, shall obtain a town business license and display same visibly on the premises. (Griffith Town Code Section 18-2)
The fee is $35.00 per year with the exception of in-home businesses, that fee is $10 per year. Included with your business license fee is a fire inspection that is conducted by the Griffith Volunteer Fire Department (home businesses are excluded from this inspection).
The calendar year for business licensing is January through December. Reminder notices are sent to the provided email during the early December time period.
You may apply online or by completing the Business License Application below and returned to the Building Department with payment.
New business licenses will go under review for proper occupancy and zoning. New businesses may be required to provide more paperwork to the Building Department such as owner driver's license, site plan, business plan, and proposed floor plan.
